John 5:5-9 NLT ~ One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, “Would you like to get well?” “I can’t, sir,” the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me.” Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!” Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath,” ........ John 5:14 NLT ~ But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” ~
In those "actual" days, most people asked Jesus to be healed. They got up and went to Jesus. This time however it must have been Opposite Day because Jesus went to where this man was and asked him, if he even wanted to be healed? Think about it. Why did Jesus do that? This man was ill for 38 years, hung out where healing took place and claimed he just. "Couldn't get in."
He responded to the Messiah with the words "I can't", I mean seriously, who does that?
Answer? ....we do.
We are the ones who say "I can't" when Jesus says "I already did".
Even if the words this man uses are an excuse, they also happen to be true.
"I Can't" is a true statement.
Because truthfully "I can't" heal my body, but Jesus can. I can't change anyone or anything. But Jesus can.
How many more years will we wait by the pool waiting on God to do all the work He has already done? How long will we be victims instead of victorious? How many times will we respond to God's promises with "I can't" instead of "God Thank You that You already did"?
How long will we suffer before we get up and agree with God concerning His Word?
Faith a Great Day Everyone :-)
